  • Developmental trauma, PTSD, & complex PTSD

  • Interpersonal & relational issues

fees

Medicare rebates are available through a referral from your GP or psychiatrist, under a Mental Health Treatment Plan (see below for further information). No referral is required if you do not wish to obtain a Mental Health Treatment Plan and prefer to pay privately. Fees for face to face and telehealth appointments (50 minutes) are listed below.

Individual Therapy (50 mins): $260

Medicare rebate (effective from July 1st 2025): $145.25

Out of Pocket: $114.75

Please note, an exception to the above may be in the event of a specific trauma-processing modality (such as EMDR) being collaboratively agreed upon as part of the therapeutic treatment journey. In this case sessions are likely to be 90 minutes and are organised by prior agreement.

The full fee is payable on the day. Medicare rebates are processed separately and paid into the bank account details provided to Medicare. Please see below for further information in relation to Medicare and alternative funding options.

faqs

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment please provide a minimum of 48 hours notice (2 business days). This allows the chance to fill the cancellation with clients who are waitlisted.

Please note, the full cost of the appointment is charged for cancellations of less than 48-hours notice or missed appointments (this is not rebatable nor funded by DVA).

  • Mary does not provide court reports. Please instead seek out a psychologist who specialises in court issues and providing medicolegal reports.

  • Mary is a registered Medicare provider. Medicare provides the above rebate per session for clients who are referred by their GP or a psychiatrist for treatment of a mental health disorder under the Australian Government's Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative. Your GP will need to prepare a Mental Health Treatment Plan before referring you to a psychologist for treatment.

Under the Mental Health Treatment Plan you can receive up to 10 individual sessions in a calendar year.

Please note that referrals cannot be provided by your GP for the full 10 sessions. A first GP referral is for a maximum of six sessions. Your referring GP will then assess your progress after the six sessions and refer for a further four sessions if needed.

  • Private clients (self referral) may be eligible for rebates for psychological services under a private health fund, so if planning to claim under private health please discuss this with your provider in advance.

Please be aware that private health insurance can not be used to cover the remainder (gap) from their Medicare rebated session. Thus, should you have access to both, you will need to decide in advance whether you wish to use Medicare or Private Health Insurance to cover part of the fee.

  • Loom will be welcoming new clients through the following referral/funding pathways from August 2025:

    • GP-referred under Medicare’s Better Access Scheme

    • Psychiatrist referral

    • Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) funded clients

    • Private attendance claimed through Private Health Insurance

    • Private full-fee paying (self referral)

  • Individual telehealth sessions are conducted via a secure and private platform using your computer or mobile devices without the need for face-to-face appointments.

Telehealth presents the opportunity for people to access consistent quality mental health treatment at a convenient time and without travel.

If you choose to engage with psychology support via Telehealth, please ensure you have access to a suitable private and safe place to attend online appointments (e.g., at home).
